Government Motors (GM)

The General Motors (G.M.) Chairman and chief executive, Rick Wagoner resigned on Sunday. His resignation is connected with the integration of Chrysler and Fiat and the reduction of production costs. The next chief, Frederick Henderson, will be obliged to replace the all directors. The President Obama Administration will give G.M. 60 days to present cost-cutting and restructuring plans.

President Barack Obama said that Chrysler has 30 days to bargain with Fiat. If this transaction is done, Chrysler will receive $6 billion. The Obama Administration didn’t fire Robert Nardelli because he started work for Chrysler since 2007. The Ford Motor Company is in better shape than G.M. and Chrysler and doesn’t need any help from the Government.

The first Polish Website WP.PL commentary on restructure of motor company speaks about intervention in privet sector of American Industry. Some, ironically, said that General Motors (G.M.) now has a name: Government Motors.

Is this the beginnig of the end of the ‘free market’ in the USA?

The 'Anti-Putin' song on Eurovision?

The song "We Don′t the Wana Put In" which Georgia proposed for this year on Eurovision cannot participate in the contest, because it disturbs regulations – announced the representatives of Eurovision on Tuesday.

Georgia can now change the words of the songs or to propose another composition which will represent her on the May contest in Moscow. This decision makes the ‘Group of Reference of Eurovision’ which belongs to the inspection of the contest. Commission referred on point of the regulations forbidding of texts and motions about the political character.

The composition is the one that Georgian televiewers choose to represent their country in the 54th edition of the Contest of Eurovision. The song called out the pretty big confusion because the English title and the refrain can be understood as we “do not want Putin". Meanwhile intercourse between Tbilisi and Moscow are very tense from August 2008, when Russian armies entered to South Ossetia - the mutinous province of Georgia.

The song in the rhythm of disco performs by the team named "Stefane & 3G" - the soloist by the name Stefane and the backing singers of three girls. Stefane, which was also a co-author "We Don′t Wanna Put In", did not deny that the title was allusion to Russian Prime Minister.

The song lived the reaction of the spokesman of Vladimir Putin. How was delivered by the Georgian portal Civil.Ge, Dmitrij Pieskow said , that possible allusions in the song would be "a hooliganism".The spokesman added ironically, that nobody in Moscow, would sing "Good-bye, our sweet Misza", as in the hymn of Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, to make the allusion to the president of Georgia, Micheil Saakaszwili.

On the Eurovision website there appeared already comments to the decision of the Group of Reference. Praise this decision the natives from Russia and Belgium, but the author from Ukraine feeling sympathetic said: "this no longer will be the interesting song".

Does this case refer to the concept of 'freedom of speech'? I am confused! What do you think?

Website: Recovery.gov

Recovery.gov is the new website of the President Barack Obama’s Administration. I was so happy to see this rescue-pack for evidencing expenses of the federal government, because now we know where our money is going. For example, $288 billion for Tax Relief, $111 billion for Infrastructure and Science, $59 billion for Health Care, $53 billion for Education and Training, $43 billion for Energy and $8 billion for other expenses. Even we don’t know exactly what kind of expense at least we’re clear about President Obama’s Stimulus Economy Plan, which is more real and hopeful for us.

Internet as Media is very close to our real life. It is exciting to know how much money they have budgeted for each department. Recovery.gov gives us the opportunity to check and to know how much they would spend on each concrete project (eg. repairs of highways). We are able to search data in the each State, Federal Agencies, congressional districts, Federal Contactors or other areas in social life (eg. repairs of schools).

In the future we will have the possibilities of commenting each expense and sending full text commentary and photos concerning projects financed by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This makes more real the prophecy proclaimed by Marshall McLuhan vision of life as a “global village”. I believe this program allows for evaluation and information gathering.

Let’s talk about Energy!!!

President Obama spoke at the Department of Energy on Thursday afternoon, Feb 5, 2009. Obama talked about raising energy efficiency standards and warned that we are failing to compete in the global economy. The President also went after opponents of his stimulus plan, calling their criticism "bickering."

On Feb 27, 2009 on CBS News, we can watch Newt Gingrich and Bob Schieffer talking about the future of the Republican Party and the Obama stimulus package. This project includes a big fight about the energy tax.

Watch CBS Videos Online

New Energy Movement is one of the most future oriented projects in USA. Do we need to think about this now or wait for a "better" moment? Discussion about: “Will Obama's Stimulus Plan Work?” started at the end of last year, before the Presidential Election. Now is the time to take this question seriously and practically. What do you think about the energy stimulus package?

Barack Obama’s plan to stimulate the economy is supposed to spend 30 billion dollars for this project. How does this money help the people get their jobs back? The Obama Administration energy plan is supposed to decrease the waste energy by nearby 50%. This will give about 5 billion dollars a year of savings. It is easy to count, that in the next 20 years this project will give us… 100 billion dollars. Energy has power!!!! Big economical power!!!

Will spending less on energy help the USA save 5 billion dollars a year? How can we do it? Now much time do we need? Obamas's Program need 20 years to improve the economy of USA? What do you think?
