Hi, my name is Mariusz. Today I had my first Spring Semester Paul Levinson’s Class: “Politics and Mass Media”. It was very hard beginning. Our teacher gave us the assignment to start with blog, podcast or vidocast production. I was so confused about it because 1. I don’t know how to create on log in to any blog web page, 2. I don’t know English so well to be creative, and especially 3. I don’t know too much about the politics in the USA.
On my way to home I start to think about it. I am guy from Poland. I worked with the Polish Community in Chicago last 7 years. So, I even thought I have been here 7 years I have been in Polish community speaking only Polish language. Now I am a student in Communication Department at Fordham University and … I can learn from YOU about politics in USA. Your opinion, even I sometimes will not agree with you, is important for me. Please help me to understand the present political issues in this country. Please try to tell me more than I know!!! Please help me to create a blog where every opinion is very helpful for people with a past like me. I would like to learn much more about this place where I spend my last few years.
When I try to back to my home from my first Paul Levinson class I meet Yulia, girl from Russia. She is a Fordham Communication student too. She told me that make my own blog is easy. “You don’t need to bee a specialist in computer technology, because it’s simple” – she said. “Just do it” – said Bill my another friend. Finally I decided to start. And now is time for You! Please help me and be a part of my first blog!!!
I have a first question: In Poland we have several parties “fighting” each other every day with no arguments, but with the power they have. I can see it every day in the Polish News. Usually they are thinking not about what is good for society, but only for themselves. It makes me angry gave me a headache. I know that you have Democratic and Republican parties? How do the parties argue their position? It’s emotional thinking more than argument thinking? What do you think about it? When I was watching the presidential debate between McCain and Obama I was so excited to listen too many of this things they said, especially about political principles they had. Do you agree with me?

When talking politics- I have nothing to say. Not that I do not care- this is all about us and our future, but generally I do not believe that I can change anything. Somebody said that if you want to be a good politician you need to be a good liar. This is the reason, good enough for me, not to be involved in it.
